Therapy for Executives
Executives bring to therapy the very human issues that anyone would have. They also have special challenges by virtue of their organizational responsibilities, and the added “stress” calls for finding balance in their life. When you are in a leadership role, talking with someone outside of the hierarchy is essential.

While therapy for a busy executive can initially feel like “one more thing,” high performers typically feel enormous gratitude for the valuable time they spend, and insight they receive with a knowledgeable and sensitive advisor. It is important that this advisor grasp both the operational and emotional complexity of the executive’s work life.

Having worked as an organizational consultant prior to becoming a psychotherapist I am familiar with the structure of organizations and how they function, and how difficult it can be, at times, to be true to yourself in an organizational setting. Issues we deal with may include:

  • Resolving interpersonal conflicts
  • Improving staff morale and teamwork
  • Overcoming and preventing executive burnout
  • Relieving the impact of stress on the body
  • Creating a more positive work environment
  • Making your vision real
  • Honoring your life outside of work
I am dedicated to help you find a balance between your professional and personal growth. Through my skilled guidance you will discover the knowledge and inner strength it takes to face and overcome conflicts and competing agendas so your life can be more flowing.

Often, the organizational demands on high-performers put a strain on the marital relationship and intimacy becomes hard to achieve. Tensions at home undermine one’s ability to work effectively.  My experience with executives tells me that stress in either work or home life affects both. By including your partner early on in the therapy, bonding between you both can be re-established, so that longstanding issues will feel less daunting.

My goal as a couples therapist is to deepen and strengthen your intimate relationship and to reduce the strain when work and home are vying for your attention. Workaholism flourishes when home just isn’t a pleasant place to be. When both partners feel loved, cared for, and respected, multiple agendas and needs just get handled more naturally. It is my job to help you make this happen.

Here are some examples of using Therapy for Executives:

Working with Matthew is a genuine experience for the soul.  I have come to learn many things through my interactions with him but among the most important of these is how generations of family legacy, good and bad, impact how we experience everyday life, behave in relationships, raise our children and interact with co-workers.  With this powerful awareness the opportunity for personal growth, by which I mean moving away from self-defeating behavior and nurturing the best from within, is immense.  Matthew pulls from you an organic consciousness that will calm you, help you find a balance between work and family and return intimacy to your relationships.”
